This Privacy Policy applies to the EngLoo mobile application (available on Android & iOS) and the official website (engloo.app), developed to help learners master the English language through interactive lessons, vocabulary, grammar formulas, and speech practice.
1Introduction & Offline-First Principle
We value your privacy above all else. EngLoo is built on an offline-first architecture. This means your personal learning data, daily streaks, XP points, flashcard bookmarks, lesson progress, and placement assessments are stored directly and securely on your device using a local database.
We do not require you to create an account, enter a credit card, or share personally identifiable information (PII) like your phone number or national ID to use our core learning features.
2Information We Collect
A. User-Provided Information (Stored Locally)
- Profile Details: Display name or nickname, learning goal, native language (e.g., Bengali, Hindi, or English).
- Skill Level & Assessment: Self-selected learning pace and responses to the initial placement assessment quiz.
- Progress Metrics: Completed lessons, vocabulary mastery counts, test scores, streak counters, and earned trophies.
B. Device & Diagnostic Information (Automated)
- Hardware & OS: Device model, operating system version, system language, and screen resolution to adapt the responsive layout.
- Performance & Crash Logs: Anonymous telemetry and error logs collected solely to detect crashes and maintain application stability.
3Device Permissions Requested
The EngLoo mobile app may request the following device permissions only when relevant features are triggered:
RECORD_AUDIO: Used solely during pronunciation and speaking practice exercises. Audio recorded is evaluated instantaneously on device or via system speech recognition and is never stored or transferred to any remote server.
INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used to load remote dictionary updates, check network connectivity, and fetch advertisements via Google AdMob.
4Third-Party Advertising & Google AdMob
To keep our educational content free and accessible to students worldwide, EngLoo displays ads provided by Google AdMob (Publisher ID: pub-5842970125486591).
Google AdMob and its advertising partners may collect and process information such as:
- Mobile Advertising Identifiers (Google Advertising ID / Apple IDFA).
- Coarse geographic location (country or city level derived from IP).
- Ad interaction telemetry (impressions, clicks, and video completion rates).
Ad-Personalization Controls: You can opt out of personalized interest-based advertising at any time by navigating to your device settings (Android: Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of personalized ads; iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking). 5Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR Compliance)
Our application is designed for language learners of all ages. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). Because our app requires no registration and stores data on-device, children cannot publish or publicly share personal information within the app.
6User Rights & How to Delete Your Data
You maintain full sovereignty over your learning data:
- Reset Progress: You can wipe all stored answers, streaks, and scores at any time from the app Settings screen by clicking “Reset All Data”.
- Uninstalling the App: Removing the app immediately and permanently purges the local SQLite database and all cached files from your device.
- Inquiries: If you have any inquiries regarding data handling, you can email us directly.
7Security
We use industry-standard encryption protocols (HTTPS/TLS) for all external communications (such as audio speech synthesis queries and ad requests). Local storage utilizes Android and iOS sandboxed application data containers, which prevent other applications from accessing your learning records.
